Mum settles legal action over air pollution death

A woman whose nine-year-old daughter became the first person in the UK to have air pollution recognised as a factor in her death has settled legal action against the government for an undisclosed amount.

Rosamund Adoo-Kissi-Debrah, the mother of Ella Adoo-Kissi-Debrah, a nine-year-old girl who died from an asthma attack linked to air pollution, has settled her legal action against the UK government. This case aimed to establish a legal "right to clean air." Ella's 2020 inquest was a landmark as it recognized air pollution as a cause of death for the first time in the UK. The legal action targeted several government departments, seeking compensation and broader recognition of the health impacts of air pollution.
